And I Love

Irridescent

Short post today (but, still better than no post). I’ve been really busy with classes the last few weeks, so haven’t really been working on my own stuff or even updating… anything.

Tripod and phone (camera remote) visible on uncropped image.

Had a class assignment to play with circular polarizers. These are simple filters that can block certain directions of light. I took it as an opportunity to try playing with an iridescent sheet of plastic that I’ve been wanting to use and unable to find the time. I’m not completely thrilled with how the images turned out, but I think that’s got more to do with being a bit exhausted and frustrated while doing it.

I used my tripod, and shot towards the ground which caused all sorts of headaches. I couldn’t really shoot in a vertical format since the image would likely get heavily distorted on the side furthest from the camera. Since I only had a circular polarizer for my 24mm prime lens, I would be fighting a lot of distortion.

I still ended up with a lot of the image unusable because of the tripod legs being visible. I made a half-hearted attempt to remove them via photoshop, but the shifting values and colors meant the automated corrections couldn’t really do much. Rather than manually paint in the sections, I ended up cropping in.
